WESTFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) - Troopers from SP Fredonia responded to a Chautauqua County call involving an accident that took the life of one man and injured another.
The accident happened around 2:45 Wednesday afternoon on Route 394 just 2 miles from the Village of Westfield.
Upon further investigation, two employees of "CTS" Telecommunications of Orrville, Ohio were working outside of their parked utility bucket truck on the shoulder of the road.
As the men were standing behind the bucket arm of the truck, they were struck by a car that drifted onto the shoulder.
Trudy Williams, 58, of Clymer was driving the car when she struck the men.
Billy J. Johnson, 49, of Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene. He was thrown into the extended bucket causing him to hit his head on the bucket and land on the shoulder behind the truck.
Nathaniel L. Bailey,26, of Glenwood, WV was also struck and thrown under the extended bucket before coming to a rest behind the truck.
Bailey was taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital with internal injuries. Williams was also taken to Westfield Memorial Hospital as a precaution.
The NYS Bureau of Criminal Investigation is continuing to look more into this accident.
