ORCHARD PARK, NY (WIVB) - It looks like Florida’s job loss will be western New York’s gain.
Business First reports that defense contractor Cobham is shutting down its facility in St. Petersburg, Fla., and redistributing a good portion of its workforce to locations in Orchard Park and Davenport, Iowa.
Cobham Life Support in Orchard Park is expected to add 60 jobs to its payroll before the end of the year.
The company makes life support systems for the military and aerospace industries.
Shrinking defense budget funds are forcing Cobham to consolidate operations.
