DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police have released the name of the man hit and killed by a train on Sunday in Dunkirk.
Steven Jewell of Park Avenue was killed when he was struck by a Norfolk Southern freight train heading to Toledo from Buffalo. Police say the 55-year-old was walking along the tracks when he was hit around 4:00 p.m.
Authorities say the train's equipment was properly functioning and the locomotive was traveling within the proper speed restrictions.
