WEBSTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A mission is underway to further honor the firefighters who were ambushed on Christmas Eve in Webster.
An online petition is seeking the Medal of Freedom for the four members from the West Webster Fire Department who were shot while responding to a fire along Irondequoit Bay last Monday.

Two of them, Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka, were killed. Joseph Hofstetter and Theodore Scardino are recovering from their wounds. The fire destroyed several homes.
Thousands of people have already signed the petition, which needs 25,000 signatures in order to be reviewed by the White House.
