Photographers captured Silo City

BUFFALO, N.Y (WIVB) - Photographers from across the Country were in Buffalo this weekend to capture a piece of the city's past.

A former Buffalo resident held a photography workshop at Silo City Sunday afternoon.

Mark Maio appreciates abandoned structure from a lost industrial age just as any photographer would.

Maio lived in Buffalo for several years while teaching at the University at Buffalo. He soon grew an appreciation for Silo City.

He says, "The abandoned industrial space, the light, and the memory of what was there, and trying to show that in what remains."

Seven serious photographers from all over the world gathered at Silo City in Buffalo for two and a half days of authorized unlimited access to create haunting an d beautiful images.

Maio led the workshop fill of shutterbugs through the half-million square feet of space where the photographers were able to find different light at each turn, creating some beautiful pictures.

It was an experience appreciated by local photographers as well. One called being in the Silo City, sacred.

Maio would like to start holding two workshops a year.
