SALAMANCA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Rescue crews are now in the fourth day of searching for a 92 year old hiker missing in Allegany State Park.
Rescuers hope a new description of where he was last seen will lead them to him.
On Sunday about 250 search and rescue personnel combed more than 4000 acres in Allegany State Park.
D.E.C. Police Captain Drew Cavanagh said, "Given the amount of time that's passed we feel our efforts would be best exerted if we do a greater search where people are actually working fairly close together."
Hamilton got lost in the park on Wednesday while hiking with his 66 year old daughter Rebecca Huffman.
When Hamilton was too weak to continue, his daughter walked to safety the next morning and called for help.
On Sunday she came back to the park and handed Police a picture she drew of a mysterious concrete structure.
"About 6 feet in width and about 15-20 feet wide. It's a 3 foot high structure that you could walk into, standing on a rock type floor," said Sgt. Clyde Doty.
Police say Hamilton was last seen about 100 feet from this structure.
But here's the problem, right now officials can't find it.
Sgt. Doty said, "Location of this structure critical to finding Mr. Hamilton."
>>>Nalina Shapiro spoke with a member of the rescue team, find that interview here.
Hamilton is a former pastor at the United Methodist Church in Great Valley.
Everyone at the church says the 92 year old is in great shape and loves the outdoors.
Pastor John Green said, "He lives down the road and every week he would walk down here and change the sign and walk home."
Right now the church and many others are praying for him.
Pastor Green said, "There are many prayers that are offered some are offered for tom some are offered for the family."
Officials tell News 4 they have plans to continue the search for the rest of the week if needed.
