CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) - The tragedy of Flight 3407 prompted one of the biggest safety crusades in aviation history and now, there's an even greater push to ensure properly-trained pilots are in the cockpit.
Flight 3407 families say they're baffled over a new plan from the Continental airline's parent company, Pinnacle, which went bankrupt just last month.
Pinnacle is now asking the bankruptcy court to approve a plan that would set up a review board after a pilot's second failure during training. Pinnacle says pulling a pilot out of training for a review could disrupt the training process.
However, 3407 families and lawmakers say waiting until a second failure, compromises safety.
The bankrupt airline is also seeking a pilot paycut and concessions.
