LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A bank robbery suspect and his alleged getaway car driver have been arrested.
Surveillance photos of the suspect wearing sunglasses were shown in the media over the weekend. Lockport Police say they arrested Joseph S. Trusello early Monday morning, with the help of Niagara Falls Police. Detectives say they arrested Trusello at his residence on Memorial Parkway.
Police received several tip calls after the M&T Bank robbery Friday morning . Tusello allegedly demanded money at the bank branch at Walnut and Pine Streets. Police say he didn’t display a weapon, and no one was injured. He allegedly fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Monday night, officers worked with Niagara County Sheriff's investigators, federal parole officers and Niagara Falls police to arrest Trusello's alleged getaway driver, 30-year-old James Williams of Lockport.
Both Williams and Trusello are charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree grand larceny. Williams is additionally charged with fifth degree conspiracy.
