LAKEVIEW, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police are still not calling Dr. Timothy Jorden, Jr. a suspect in the murder of Jackie Wisniewski. But the trauma surgeon is clearly the most wanted "person of interest" in western New York.

The search for the doctor is stretching well beyond Buffalo. Police across the country are on the lookout for Dr. Jorden, who is suspected of killing his former girlfriend Wednesday on the campus of ECMC.

All of the vehicles registered to Dr. Jorden have been accounted for. Buffalo Police Commissioner Dan Derenda said confidently at a press conference on Thursday that Jorden did not cross into Canada.  Police continue to treat his home in Lakeview as a crime scene.

Law enforcement sources also tell News 4 that Officer Martin Motley, seen in video taken by News 4 on Wednesday at the doctor's home, Has been suspended without pay. Hamburg Police took him into custody shortly after the shooting as he left the doctor's home with his own gun, $5,000 in cash and a Rolex watch.

Motley's attorney sent News 4 a statement saying, in part, "In the days prior to this incident, Officer Motley was suspicious about some of the behavior of Dr. Jorden, which included some unusual gift giving. He even inquired of family members to see if Dr. Jorden was okay. Then when Officer Motley heard about the shooting at ECMC, he tried to reach Dr. Jorden by telephone and texting but received no response. Whereupon, being concerned, he drove out to Dr. Jorden's house but could not find him. It was upon leaving the house that he was then stopped by the police and has cooperated fully with all law enforcement authorities."

Police have spent another full day at the doctor's home in Lakeview, where a neighbor told police he heard a single gunshot Wednesday morning, about an hour and a half after the shooting at ECMC. You can see authorities searching the grounds of the doctor's home in this photo gallery.

On Thursday, police would only say the former Army weapons expert is still out there.

Derenda said, "He's a person of interest; I don't believe he's a general threat to the public; this was a targeted incident that took place. It was not a random act. But again he should be considered armed and dangerous at this point."

Though there has been no sign of Jorden, police have kept a presence at his Lakeview home. Early Thursday evening, it appeared officers found new evidence near 18-Mile Creek. Evidence technicians and SWAT members were on the banks of the creek, taking photographs, but police are staying tightlipped about progress in the case.

The search of Dr. Timothy Jorden continues.
