HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - Hamburg Police and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office were negotiating with a man barricaded in a home on Victorian Drive, near Big Tree Road and Eaglecrest Drive, for 15 hours on Monday.
Police say Anthony DeMartino’s girlfriend went to the police station around midnight to report that the 42-year-old was distraught, had access to a shotgun and made suicidal threats.
When authorities arrived at the home, DeMartino had barricaded himself inside. Around 3 p.m. on Monday, the standoff ended peacefully, and DeMartino was taken into custody. Two shotguns were confiscated from the home.
The street was closed while the standoff continued. It has since re-opened.
DeMartino is being evaluated at ECMC.
