BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - New York State Police are asking drivers to plan for extra time on the roadways this Thanksgiving, and to practice good driving habits.

Troopers will be participating in traffic details around the state, including Operation Hang Up to fight distracted driving. Troopers will also have a close eye on speeding vehicles and seatbelt offenses.

Troopers will also conduct DWI checkpoints. Police are reminding New Yorkers to use a sober driver to get home safely over the holidays. Finally, police ask for drivers to be “cautious and courteous as they travel area roadways.”
