WILSON, N.Y. (WIVB) - Officials are fairly confident that propane is to blame for the fatal home explosion in Wilson.
The Niagara County Sheriff says he is fairly confident that there was a propane leak and propane filled the air in the home. It is believed that some kind of spark ignited the explosion. Fire investigators are looking at the heating system and other appliances in the home, and other areas.
The blast claimed the life of 14-year-old Sarah Johnson. Jody Johnson and his son Nathan Johnson were both hospitalized after the explosion, and have been released from the hospital. Judy Johnson and daughter Katie Johnson both remain at ECMC.
The community is reaching out to the family, after the tragic explosion. Friday, News 4 learned AT&T restored the family's cell phones at no cost, so the family can communicate.
The community has come together and started many donation options. In addition, Paster Lowrey says the Buffalo Bills have sent the family flowers. Sarah's best friend wrote a tribute to her , and shared it with News 4 on Friday.
