Public website lists WNY teacher pay

ALBANY, NY (WIVB) - Public spending watchdog website See Through NY has released their annual report of public education employee salaries across New York, including WNY.

The website publishes salaries of public teacher, school administrators and other employees.  You can look up the salaries of WNY teachers and administrators during pay years ranging from 2008 - 2012 on WIVB.com.

A report published Tuesday on the website says the highest public school salary in the state outside of New York City is more than $560,000.

The Empire Center for New York State Policy also says four districts have average teacher salaries more than $100,000.  None are in WNY.

The average salary in western New York is around $46,000 and has increased slightly since last year.

The center's report is on its website SeeThroughNY.net.

The data includes regional breakdowns that identify schools and employees by name and list salaries. The highest paid school worker is superintendent of the Rockville Centre Union Free School District.

Salaries paid for by taxes and other government funds are public information under New York state law.
