BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Queen City is getting ready to welcome 2013 with one of the largest New Year’s Eve events around. Final tests are being done for the ball drop, as crews prepare to ring in the New Year in downtown Buffalo.

Forty thousand of people are expected to attend the event, that is the second biggest ball drop in the United States next to Times Square.

This year is the ball drop's 25th anniversary downtown, so event organizers say there will be special surprises throughout the evening.
