WNY fans react to new Bills coach

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - The news of Doug Marrone patrolling the sidelines for the Buffalo Bills next year has received a bit of a mixed reaction so far from the Bills faithful.

Many fans are still unsure of how they feel exactly of the decision. Greg Witman of Hamburg says, "I don't really know yet. I think time will tell. I think he comes with experience; he's a young guy, he's going to be energetic and enthusiastic. I think it could be a good thing for the Bills."

Marrone is no stranger to the NFL. He was an assistant coach for 7 years, including 3 years as the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints.

He ended up turning around the Syracuse University football team during his tenure as coach there. His record was only .500 in four years but at least one fans says that shouldn't be what other fans focus on.

Dave Guarino of Buffalo says, "The guy turned around a program that had been suffering so I like it a lot. He comes from the Sean Peyton tree of coaching, I think it's a good thing."

Before Marrone's arrival, the Orange had not had a winning season since 2001.

This past season, Syracuse won 6 of their last 7 games, including a win against West Virginia in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium.

Some Bills fans like the idea of a college head coach who could bring some new energy to One Bills Drive.

One lifelong Bills fan says they want to see them back to where they were in the 90's

Anne Murphy of Buffalo thinks that this decision made was a strong idea.

She, as well as the rest of Buffalo can only hope it is.
