BUFFALO, N.Y (WIVB) - "I eat, sleep, and breathe bottles," says Niagara Student, Nicolette Sepielli. After founding "Recycle for a Cause," it's safe to say that she sees bottles and cans differently.

Anxiously wanting to save money for her cousins expenses who is a recovering cancer patient, Sepielli first told the idea to her accounting professor back in March. "I told him my idea was a 50 dollar gift card because I know her everyday life expenses. And he said, 'Here's 50 dollars, now your goal is 100."

Her idea took off from there as people started to help her around campus. "It grew into a Twitter account, Facebook, an actual website for the fundraiser. I have flyers posted and over 30 businesses helping," Sepielli says.

Since the fundraiser took off, Sepielli has been featured on the Niagara University website, Below the Falls, The Buffalo News, and Tonawanda News.

"Recycle for a Cause" exceeded their goal Saturday night, of raising $5,000 by September 3rd, collecting an incredible total of 100,000 bottles and cans.

"Recycle for a Cause" has been approved to fundraise for Camp Good Days and Special Times. "I start September 17th and I'll be doing it until September 3rd of next year. I'm going to raise ten-thousand dollars," Sepielli determinedly says.

She's confident because she knows how many people have been affected by cancer. She says, "I've had family members pass away from cancer and deal with cancer and I know other people have been touched in that way. And I think all of us together can make a difference."

They aspire to raise $10,000 to purchase a golf cart and basic necessities from their wish list by September 3rd of next year.

To help Sepielle and "Recycle for a Cause" reach their goal, sign on to their website and see how you can contribute to this wonderful cause.
