BARKER, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Barker community came out to today to remember the honor roll student and rising athlete at Barker Central School whose life ended much too soon.

Last weekend, 14-year-old Tyler Miller fell asleep on his couch at home and never woke up. An autopsy revealed no clues about the cause of his unexpected death.

Miller's memorial service was held today at the Ridgewood Bible church in Lockport.

Miller loved playing sports, especially football with both the Barker Central JV squad and the Bar-lyn Football Team. He also helped his dad coach the Bar-lyn team by serving as the defensive coordinator.

He's been an honor roll student through his school years, and had many, many friends.

"When they hung out with Tyler they felt like they were his best friend. So, it didn't matter how much they hung out with him, if they just spent some time with him he made them feel as if they were his best friend and he's just a great kid that way," says Richard Jennings from the Ridgewood Bible Church.

On Sunday, October 21st there will be a benefit to raise money for the Tyler Miller Memorial Fund that will be held at Barker Fire hall starting at 1p.m.

Tickets for the benefit are $10 per person and can be bought at the door or presale . The event will have a spaghetti dinner and a "Tynese Auction."

Monetary donations are also being accepted at any Key Bank location. For anyone paying with a check, are asked to make the check payable to: Tyler Miller Memorial Fund.
