SNYDER, N.Y. (WIVB) - Residents in Snyder are taking a strong and vocal stance about a hotel planned for their sleepy suburb. Concerned neighbors all dressed in red, showed up for Monday night’s town meeting, with their arguments ready.

Residents were hoping board members would vote in their favor for the rezoning of Mike’s Pond. It would allow more space between their backyards along Livingston Parkway and the hotel. The zoning vote eventually passed five to zero, but only after board member Steven Sanders had a change of heart.

Sanders said, “If that's what they really want... I am a public servant and I have an obligation to adhere to what the public wants.”

A site plan still has to be approved before construction on the hotel can get started.
