BUFFALO, N.Y (WIVB) - Over 1000 Western New Yorkers joined together to clean a waterway that flows through the Queen City.
Riverkeeper's Fall Shoreline Sweep focuses on cleaning debris including litter from Scajaquada Creek that runs through Buffalo and part of Cheektowaga.
Buffalo Riverkeeper is also working to keep the lower part of the river clean. Jill Jedlicka, the Executive Director of Riverkeeper says, "Between working with Forest Lawn Cemetery the Olmsted Parks Conservancy the City of Buffalo and Army Corps, we're working together to address the foundational problems which include sewer overflow, contaminated sediments and the altered shorelines."
The Shoreline Sweep has been happening for more than a decade, and includes Scajaquada and 22 other location in Buffalo and Niagara.
