Rodemeyers to meet with Lady Gaga in CA

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jamey Rodemeyer's tragic message about the consequences of bullying has touched the heart of Lady Gaga. Jamey's parents and sister are on their way to L.A. at the personal invitation of the pop icon.

Tim, Tracy, and Alyssa Rodemeyer checked in at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport as they began their journey to Los Angeles, where they will share a special moment with Lady Gaga.

Tim Rodemeyer said, "We're just going to L.A. to continue Jamey's message of everyone's created equal and everyone deserves a right to be here."

Lady Gaga, who appeared Wednesday night on the Grammy nominations, will be the honored guest of the big fundraiser for the Trevor Project, whose mission is to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. Lady Gaga will be given the "Trevor Hero Award."

David McFarland, CEO of the Trevor Project, said, "I'm sure that there will be an opportunity for them to meet Lady Gaga and, you know, we are all in this together, including the Trevor Project to really work to help save lives."

Lady Gaga recently sent a personalized video to a Toronto student who was organizing an anti-bullying assembly. She included a reference to Jamey Rodemeyer.

"In light of the recent suicide of Jamey Rodemeyer, because of the bullying that he experienced in school, I'm going to be working as hard as I can to make bullying a hate crime," said Lady gaga.

Jamey's message that it gets better for those who stand up to bullies has struck a national nerve. His parents have gone on national television, including an appearance on Anderson Cooper's show.

The Rodemeyers' passion for their cause, says McFarland, "will help change our world." They are expected to meet privately with Lady Gaga, who has taken up their cause.
