BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Buffalo Sabres Alumni are pitching in to help those hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. The Alumni teamed up with Lutheran Charities for a food drive at the First Niagara Center. More than 160 volunteers are packaging 40,000 meals.
Sabres Alumni Rob Ray said, “I know a majority of the people in the building here at the area have come down and helped out. There is a number of the alumni guys here too. I think when you do something like this, it’s going to touch a lot of different groups, and they are willing to help out and chip in.”
The meals will be shipped off to hungry families in western New York as well as New York City and New Jersey.
