CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Sabres are still off the ice, but the lockout isn't keeping their players from bringing smiles to the faces of fans.
Forward Patrick Kaleta and volunteers from his "HITS" Foundation held an adopt a family event today in Cheektowaga.
The annual event gives families in need a chance to give their children a Christmas they'll never forget.
"It's the best feeling in the entire world when you can see the smile on someone's face knowing that you made their Christmas and you made it a memorable one," said Kaleta.
In addition to meeting Kaleta, kid's at today's event got to do crafts, decorate cookies, and even got a special visit from Santa.
