TOWN OF SHELBY, N.Y. - A three-car crash claimed a teen girl's life Sunday evening, and sent two other people to the hospital. The crash happened just before 7 p.m. Sunday in the Town of Shelby.
Orleans County Sheriff Deputies tell News 4 a red minivan was traveling north on Route 63, near the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge Swamp, when it collided head-on with a southbound car. A third vehicle then collided with the car.
The minivan's driver 73-year-old Walter C. Hawkins, of Medina, was treated and released at Medina Memorial Hospital.
Investigators say the crash claimed the life of 19-year-old Kelsey Milks, of Corfu, who was the passenger in Dana R. Cipra's vehicle. Cipra, 20, was taken to ECMC, where he remains hospitalized.
The driver and passenger in the third vehicle were not injured. It's unclear what triggered the crash.
