BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The old Sheehan Memorial Hospital was on the auction block, Thursday.
Only one company, MCG Realty Holdings, submitted a bid of $2 million and ultimately won the auction for the 145,000 square foot facility on Michigan Avenue in downtown Buffalo.
Included in the selling price is the eight-acres the old hospital sits on and all of the former hospital's equipment and furnishings. The property will be sold free and clear of all liens. There are three liens against the property, as it was revealed in court.
Sheehan closed its doors this past May, after more than a century of service. he hospital faces financial problems and had issues paying its 150 employees.
The property is designated as "residential" so it can be developed into multi-family homes. No one will say what will become of the property.
MCG Realty Holdings will close on the property early next week.
