ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Southern Tier and the Southtown's have been getting hit hard by Wednesday nights snowstorm.
As the storm rolled into Hamburg, it wasn't lake effect snow catching everyone's attention, but rather the lake itself.
Many people were admiring the sache effect on Lake Erie where the Northeast winds were pushing the lake water towards Cleveland leaving our shoreline very shallow.
As for the afternoon drive, it was slow across the Southtowns, and didn't get any easier. For skiiers however, it was a different story.
It was opening day at Kissing Bridge and the snow was the icing on the cake. The snow may not have been for the roads, but for the slopes of the ski resort, it was needed.
Many who traveled to Kissing Bridge spoke about last year's winter and how often they couldn't go out. One weather day like today's is what snow lovers thrive for this season.
By tomorrow morning, many parts of western New York should be expecting to wake up to at least a foot of snow.
