CANISTEO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Evening Tribune Newspaper reports a local soldier from Corning recently lost his life while serving in Afghanistan as a result of a roadside bomb.
22-year-old Ryan Jayne was a member of the 21B United States Army Reserves. He was a combat engineer and driver as well.
Jayne had just returned to Afghanistan last Monday after spending his 10-day leave in Canisteo, N.Y. where he was recently living.
