BUFFALO, N.Y.(WIVB) - An Olmsted Park in the heart of Buffalo now has more cash to continue its work thanks to State Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes.
The assemblywoman presented a $500,000 check to the parks conservancy this afternoon in which the money will be used to make improvements to the casino and surrounding area of Martin Luther King-Junior Park.
Officials tell us it will be a hot attraction starting in the Spring. Thomas Herrera-Mischler from the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy says, "The casino that is right on the splash pad needs to be renovated so that it can serve the community and the many folks that are going to come and enjoy the splash pad and skating in the wintertime."
The Olmsted Parks system is also getting ready for a winter festival on January 26th at Buffalo's Delaware Park.
