ATTICA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Concerns about a gas leak forced students out into the cold at a school in Attica.
Everyone was evacuated from Prospect Elementary Wednesday morning because of a broken gas regulator. Students were taken to a nearby church to stay warm.
Superintendent Bryce Thompson said, "The fire department vented the building and opened windows. We waited for National Fuel to come through with their meters to detect any gas."
National Fuel fixed the problem in about 45 minutes and gave the "all clear." The evacuation cut the school day shorter than it already was, because early dismissal was already scheduled for parent teacher conferences.
