BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A fundraiser on land and another in the water, both support the same worthy cause.

The group “Carly’s Club” held a cocktail party at Gallagher Beach on Friday. Sunday, swimmers hit Lake Erie for Carly’s Crossing.

They could choose from one mile and 600-yard courses, with pledges they raise going to Carly’s Club, for kids and cancer research at Roswell Park.

Chuck Collard said, “Carly would be extremely proud of what she accomplished a little over 10 years ago. Her goal was to give back to the western New York community, to make the pediatric cancer experience a little bit more manageable.”

Collard says this year’s proceeds will put the total fundraising for Carly’s Crossing over the $1 million mark.
