WELLAND, ONTARIO (WIVB) - Hotel manager, Harry Liu, says drunken teenagers trashed rooms at his hotel, causing $100,000 worth of damage. Worse, he says police did nothing to help.
Some of the teens accused of causing the damage were only 17 or 18 years old. Some of them even posted photos on Facebook and bragged about what happened.
Over a dozen rooms at the Avenue Inn, in Ontario, were completely upended. Huge holes were put in the walls, televisions were destroyed and trails of broken beer and liquor bottles littered the hallways. Duct work was torn out of the ceiling, and at least one sink and toilet were destroyed.
The rooms were rented in the names of the parents of students from Notre Dame high school in Welland.
"We thought we prepared well because we had a student representative come in with every student's name and a deposit we thought that would take care of it. And we had security but they just closed the door and started hitting the walls from 8 o'clock on," Liu said.
Liu says the police have looked into the matter but have told him it is likely this will be something he will have to sort out through a civil lawsuit and with his insurance company.
