BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Several congregations came together in Buffalo today to introduce immigrants to an American tradition.
Central Park United Methodist Church hosted a Thanksgiving meal to more than 200 people including many refugees who are here from other countries.
For them, it's their first time they're able to enjoy the holiday many of us take for granted.
Jernnifer Rizzo from Journey's End Refugee Services says, "This is something that's brand new for them. They're having American food today rather than you know something that is ethnic to their culture. This is a great chance for our staff and volunteers to be able to meet some of our clients who we serve throughout the year."
Diner's also enjoyed a play performed by refugee school children explaining the tradition of Thanksgiving.
