CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A massive celebration of German heritage and culture wrapped up another successful year in Cheektowaga.

The western New York German Heritage Festival took over Town Park on Harlem Road this weekend. Around 5,000 people were expected to attend.

Event chairperson Herbert Hansi Schmidt said, “We’ve got bands for two days straight for Saturday and Sunday. We’ve got contests. We’ve got a kinder park for the kids. We’ve got a very large vendor midway. Lots of food for purchase. Lots of beverages for purchase.”

The festival also featured a yodeling contest.
