BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Starting November 1st, all Time Warner Internet subscribers outside of New York City will be charged an additional $3.95 a month. Time Warner calls this a "modem rental fee" necessary to cover equipment cost and improve its internet service.
"It gives us the capability in the future for faster speed, for example, or to just make sure our services are working at the quality that they need to be for our customers," says Jolie Plunknette-Farmen, Time Warner Cable Communications Manager; Western New York. "I think that our customers always look to us to provide top-notch quality, which we strive to do every day for our customers."
Customers can avoid the new monthly fee by buying their own modem from a third party. You'll find a link to a list of modems approved by Time Warner here.
