BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The winds were raging throughout western New York Thursday. In Buffalo, winds caused tree limbs to crash into an Olympic Avenue home.
Around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, a tree fell on top of Myrtle Hunley’s roof. When she went to view the damage, a branch crashed into her living room and almost fell on top of her.
Hunley said, “I was terrified. I put my hands up and I was screaming. I ran and the dog ran.”

For hours, Buffalo Department of Public Works crews cut down the tree branches and cleaned up the debris. Hunley’s son says the family is grateful they came to help.
Darrell Hunley said, “They responded quick. Everybody showed up. They came and did a great job. They even did more than they were supposed to.”
Crews say this is just one of the many homes in the area that has wind damage from tree branches.
Whether you were at home or on the road, the wind made things a little difficult. As a News 4 live truck crossed the Skyway Thursday, the winds tossed it back and forth. With windy conditions, it’s important for motorists to slow down their driving speeds.
