AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - After the death of his nephew Jamey, Dave Rodemeyer wanted to spread the word on suicide prevention.
Through the help of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and many volunteers, he started an “Out of the Darkness Walk” at ECC’s Williamsville campus.
They were able to raise $12,000 for the foundation. Dave said it wasn’t about the money, but getting the word out on suicide prevention.
Dave also said that he was amazed about the amount of people that came to the event to support the cause. Some from as far as California.
Rodemeyer said, “When I first started this thing, I thought it was just going to be a relative function and some friends coming along. The outpouring of support I received is staggering. I am so shocked at how many people turned out. “
