BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A gift that could save a life is helping families in need this holiday season. News 4 teamed up with Valu Home Centers to help raise money for the Salvation Army. 4 Warn Meteorologist Mike Cejka and WIVB/WNLO President and General Manager Chris Musial were there as Valu presented a check for $45,000.
Valu Home Centers sold carbon monoxide and natural gas alarms for $24.97 cents. For each alarm sold, $5 was donated to the Salvation Army.
Salvation Army of Greater Buffalo Executive Director Major Thomas Applin said, “The money raised during the holiday season is used all year long, for any of the many programs of the Salvation Army, helping people who are in desperate need get back on their feet and get their lives together.”
The money raised will remain in the communities where the sales were made.
The Salvation Army says your help is needed for kettle donations, which are down this year. There are 10 days left to donate.
