NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - Friday morning, daredevil Nik Wallenda's 1,800-foot, seven-ton cable is rigged up and ready to go.

The man himself was up there Thursday night, making sure everything was just perfect for the big event.

As the sun was setting over the world’s most famous waterfall, on lookers at Terrapin Point got quite the surprise. The night before the historic walk , Nik Wallenda got on the high wire to practice.

“It's crazy, I mean what else can you say but crazy,” said Wallenda fan David Sharpe.

Friday, one daredevil’s dream will come true, and he hopes it will not only change history but the region's sluggish economy as well.

“You know what a better feeling to be able to say that, that walk changed the economy in the Niagara Falls region. Of course that's my dream,” said Wallenda.

Billy and Mary Anne Benke of Billy’s Beef said, “Oh of course we are excited. This is a one-time event brother. One of the wonderful wonders of the world, and we're going to be here, and we're going to be a part of Nik walking the Falls.”
