Stepniak says the streets department is out working on 12-hour shifts. They are checking all of their equipment and making sure their vehicles have all of the fluids they need.
He says, his biggest concern is making sure residents are prepared for the storm. Wednesday at Budwey's, western New Yorkers were stocking up on bread, milk and other groceries.
According to FEMA, it's important for people to have snow shovels ready and rock salt to melt walkways. If you're home, make sure you have enough food to get yourself through a storm.
Stepniak says anyone who has trouble on roadways should dial 311.
