BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The winter storm will have a big impact on travel Friday, especially air travel. You can monitor the arrival and departure boards on WIVB.com’s travel page.
It’s not just air travel being impact. Amtrak will end northeast service Friday afternoon. Decisions about Saturday service will be made later Friday.
Once the snow starts fall Friday, it’s expected to keep coming, making driving on area roadways very difficult.
The State Department of Transportation was busy Thursday night, preparing for Friday’s expected snowfall. Four hundred and fifty workers will be plowing the over 4,000 miles of roadways in Niagara, Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. They say they are ready for the storm.
Public Information Officer Susan Surdej said, “We are mobilizing our crews and we're monitoring the weather service and we're staying in touch with the National Weather Service. When it's appropriate we will deploying our equipment and we will be taking care of the state highways, which include all of the major expressways in the Buffalo metropolitan area with the exception of the I-90.”
Everyone is on standby waiting for the snow to start falling. So if you’re home preparing to go to work or take the kids to school, stay with 4 Warn Weather to get the latest weather information.
