ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) - Thousands of people put on their winter gear to brave the cold for some fun activities held at Winterfest 2013 at Chestnut Ridge Park Sunday.
Festivities family and friends enjoyed were sledding, snow bowling, tobogganing, roasting marshmallows, and much more.
Everyone was happy there was plenty of snow on the ground this year, unlike last year where there was barely any.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said, "When you have a winterfest in Buffalo, you expect snow! We didn't have much last year. Luckily we got a lot this year and you can see, there's just a lot of good activities. Anything you can imagine doing in winter, we're doing here. And it's great because it's a free activity for the people of our county."
Poloncarz calls Chestnut Ridge Park the "crown jewel" of the Erie County Parks System in which Winterfest helps put it on display.
