BATAVIA, NY (WIVB) - The lasted Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model has a local connection.

Supermodel Kate Upton is featured on the 2012 SI swimsuit cover. She is 19 years old and a descendant of Civil War General Emery Upton according to a report in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

General Upton is admittedly a distant cousin- he is her fourth great uncle- and was born on a farm near Batavia, New York. There is a memorial to the Civil War General in downtown Batavia.
