TORONTO, ONT. (WIVB) - Dire financial conditions in Ontario have prompted a cost-cutting commission to recommend closing one of the casinos in Niagara Falls.
The Commission on the Reform of Ontario's Public Services, issued a report, referred to as the Drummond Report. Those findings were made available on Wednesday.
The Toronto Star reports that on the hit list is the older Casino Niagara, which has continued to operate in the downtown area of Niagara Falls since the "considerably larger" and more posh Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort opened several blocks away in 2004.
The Drummond Report points out the Fallsview resort is nine times bigger than Casino Niagara and has double the gaming floor space.
