BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Could Buffalo team up with Toronto to host the 2024 Olympic Games? It’s an idea being floated by a Toronto councilman, but how do Buffalonions feel about this? Some call it far fetched, others call it a great idea.

Since Toronto City Councillor James Pasternak threw out the idea for Toronto and Buffalo to collaborate and host the 2024 Olympic Games, the Queen City has been abuzz.

Pasternak proposes that “A Great Lakes Olympics, not only makes sense geographically, but financially as well.”

The City of Toronto has made five failed attempts for the Olympics bid, in 1960, 1964, 1976, 1996 and 2008. Pasternak hopes a bi-national bid would be more appealing to the International Olympic Committee.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said, “Loved hearing it. Loved the talk, the buzz that's going around it so quickly, so early.”

Brett says, "If Toronto is putting together a bid for the Olympics, why not help them out? It's sad that so many western New Yorkers mock the idea."

Hanford said, “Where are the billions of dollars going to come from?”

Luke said, “Maybe both cities could help each other get selected for the Olympics, like if Canada gets chosen Buffalo helps out and then if America gets chosen Toronto helps out, but to have it in two cities wouldn't be worth it. A bi-city Olympics won't work."

Hosting the Olympics does not come cheap. Great Britain spent $15 billion to bring this year's games to London.
