AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Three western New York piano students have been invited to play at Carnegie Hall. Jarod Yap, 13, of Clarence, and Amherst residents Suzie Lee, 10, and Leela Fernando, 12 are all piano students of Mary Handley. They have all been invited to play at the at the Tri-State Certificate of Excellence Recital and Awards Ceremony at Carnegie Hall in early February.
Yap, an eighth grader at Clarence Middle School, has been awarded the Tri-State Certificate of Excellence for Grade 10 Piano and also for Grade 7 Violin.
Lee, a fifth grader at Casey Middle School, has been awarded the Tri-State Certificate of Excellence for Grade 8 Piano.
Fernando, a sixth grader at Casey Middle School, has been awarded the Tri-State Certificate of Excellence for both Grade 3 Piano and Grade 2 Piano.
