BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -
Bands rocked the Town Ballroom for a fundraiser Thursday night.
"Rockin' for Rice" was organized by friends of the late Alix Rice, who was struck and killed by a car last year while she was riding her skateboard. The group hopes to use money raised to build a skate park in the northtowns.
Brian Duff, Vice President of the Alix Rice Peace Park Foundation, said, "No matter how many people come through the doors tonight, we've had through the process of just making people aware of the event, a lot of people that already had prior commitments that gave the money for the tickets."
Six local bands donated their services for this all-ages fundraiser, which also included a silent auction.
