BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Ken Blazick suffered the loss of a friend, a broken relationship, and an unknown illness.

After the aforementioned events occurred, he decided to participate in Tough Mudder, a 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces that tests strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.

Tough Mudder served as a tool to improve his mental and physical well being. Through the race, he discovered that his mental and physical strength exceeded all his expectations.

After finishing in the top five percent of aTough Mudder course, Blazick has decided to train for the World's Toughest Mudder on November 17th and 18th in New Jersey.

Competitors will have 24 hours to complete as many laps as they can on a given course without leaving the course.

He is competing with his brother where together, they are using their obstacle experience as an opportunity to raise money for Wounded Warriors, an organization that provides assistance to wounded military veterans.

Blazick comes from a military family and believes both the charitable component of Tough Mudder along with the physical challenge has complemented a healthier and happier lifestyle.
