BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - As the case of the stolen parking pass "stokes" the fires of controversy in this political season, the mayor and his challenger are taking off the gloves.
Kearns TV Campaign Commercial: "Four more years of the most corrupt administration in Buffalo's history?"
The allegations of Brown administration wrongdoing that ignited the Mickey Kearns campaign, will continue to be made an issue, right up until Primary Day.
Kearns said, "He's had opportunity after opportunity to answer. What happened? Only he and Leonard Stokes knows what went on in that room."
Brown TV Campaign Commercial: "Mayor Brown did nothing wrong and is proud of the progress he made in Buffalo."
The Brown campaign now seeks to have any investigation expanded to include what the mayor calls an intentional misleading of the public.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said, "They've tried to confuse the public into believing that something was done wrong, and now that the facts have come out, it's quite clear that nothing was done wrong."
Accusations aside, both campaigns are stepping out efforts to get out the vote. A strong showing on what is normally a low-turnout primary day could make the difference.
Brown Campaign Manager Betsy Ball said, "We know that the support is there. We're extremely positive that the results are going to be great across the entire City. We've just got to make sure we get our voters out."
Kearns Campaign Manager Chito Olivencia said, "Mickey's going to do very well in all council districts. Our numbers are showing that. I don't know what their numbers are showing."
The only numbers that count are the one's tallied on primary night, a primary that has turned into a major battle far beyond anyone's expectation.
