WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) - Funeral arrangements are still being finalized for a native son who made the ultimate sacrifice in the war on terror.
Specialist Alan Dikcis died in a roadside bombing last Friday in Afghanistan. He leaves behind a daughter. The 21-year-old graduate of Niagara-Wheatfield was due to return home for two weeks next month.
His tour of duty was scheduled to end in June.
Governor David A. Paterson has directed that flags on State government buildings be flown at half-staff on Wednesday, March 10, in honor of Niagara Falls native Army Specialist Alan Dikcis who was killed in Afghanistan on Friday, March 5.
