WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIVB) - Congress has extended an airline safety act that would have expired Friday.

The FAA reauthorization bill increases training standards for pilots and was proposed in the wake of the Flight 3407 crash.

It has faced some opposition because of tacked-on legislation that could allow Fed-Ex workers to unionize.

The new deadline for a vote is August 1st.
