FAA submits new rules to White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIVB) - The crusade to improve air safety since the tragedy of Flight 3407 is reaching new territory.

Since last year's crash in Clarence Center, the FAA has been accused of failing to increase safety measures. Now, the administration is about to propose new rules on how many hours pilots can be on duty or in the cockpit. A draft has already been submitted to the White House.

President Obama signed the FAA re-authorization bill this summer, which was a victory for Flight 3407 families that have been fighting for tougher standards since the crash.
